Why use SSO?
Single sign-on (SSO) connects Centralize to your company's identity provider, like Okta, Google or Microsoft Entra. Your team logs in with their work account instead of a separate password, and your IT team controls who has access from one place.
Use it when:
Your company requires SSO for the tools your team uses.
You want access to Centralize managed by your IT team.
Before you start
SSO is turned on by Centralize. Reach out in your Slack channel or email support@usecentralize.com and we'll turn it on for your organization.
The person setting it up needs the Owner role in Centralize. Admins and Members can't set up SSO.
No Centralize login for your IT team? Let us know, and we can set them up another way.
Set up SSO
Ask Centralize to turn on SSO for your organization, and tell us who's doing the setup.
We'll send that person a direct link to your organization's settings page.
Open the link and start the SSO setup.
Follow the guided steps for your identity provider.
In your identity provider, assign the users or groups who should have access to Centralize.
Note: Only one person needs to do the setup. Once it's connected, your team just logs in as usual.
How SSO changes logging in
Once SSO is on, everyone in your organization logs in with Sign in with SSO through your identity provider.
Email/password and Google login stop working for your team. That's expected, not an error.
Add and remove users with SSO
With SSO alone:
New users get a Centralize account the first time they sign in with SSO. They won't show up in Centralize before that.
People who leave can't log in once your IT team removes them from your identity provider, but they still show as members in Centralize until you deactivate them. See 📄 Managing Users: Adding, Deactivating, and SSO Setup.
Tip: Want people added and removed from Centralize automatically when they join or leave your company? Ask us about turning on SCIM.
Troubleshooting
I don't see the SSO option
Log out of Centralize, log back in, then open the link again.
Make sure you have the Owner role. If you're not sure, reach out to us.
A user sees "user is not assigned to this application"
Your IT team needs to assign that person, or a group they're in, to Centralize in your identity provider. Nothing is wrong with their Centralize account.
Limitations
Only Owners can set up or change SSO.
With SSO alone, users aren't added or removed in Centralize automatically. Ask us about SCIM if you need that.
To switch to a different identity provider, reach out to us first.
