Working with Centra AI: Ask Centra & Call Strategy Prompts

Last updated: October 30, 2026

Ask Centra and Call Strategy are two of Centralize's AI-powered surfaces for getting up to speed on an account and walking into a call prepared. This article explains what each one does, how they differ from the standard Research tab, and how to personalize your Call Strategy output to match how you like to prep.

Ask Centra vs. the Research tab

Centralize has two distinct AI surfaces on every account, and it's easy to conflate them.

The Research tab is a standard, pre-built set of questions available on every account (for example, "give me an overview of this account"). These questions are the same across every account you look at, though you can add more.

Ask Centra is different: it's an account-specific AI chat, similar to having an AI assistant scoped to just that one account. Your chat history persists per account, so you can pick up a conversation where you left off.

Tip: Ask Centra is especially useful when you inherit an account you don't know yet. Asking it for an overview before you dig into the Stakeholder Map is a fast way to get oriented.

Chat with Ask Centra on an account

  1. Open the account you want to get oriented on.

  2. Open Ask Centra from the account page.

  3. Type your question — for example, ask for an overview of the account, what happened on the last call, or what's still outstanding from previous conversations.

  4. Continue asking follow-up questions in the same thread.

Ask Centra keeps the conversation going, and its history is saved per account, so you don't lose context if you come back later.

How Call Strategy briefs work

A Call Strategy is an AI-generated call prep brief for a call with a specific person. You can get one for a meeting on your calendar, or generate one on demand for any contact — even when there's no meeting scheduled.

  • For meetings on your calendar, Centralize generates a Call Strategy and displays it on the account tied to that event.

  • Want the brief sent to you before each meeting? Turn on Per-meeting briefs in your Notification Settings. They're off by default, but the brief is always available on the account either way.

  • You don't have to wait for the automatic send — open an upcoming meeting to generate its Call Strategy manually ahead of time.

Call Strategy briefs draw on the account's activity and your company's own context — what you sell, who you sell to, and how you position against alternatives — so they can show where your product fits for the target account. Admins can add this context in Settings → Workspace → Company. Centralize fills in a starting company description from your website automatically; see Add Your Company Context for Call Prep and Email Drafts.

Generate call prep without a meeting

Making a dial without a meeting on the calendar? You can still get a full prep brief for the contact and account. This is especially useful for SDR and outbound workflows. There are two ways to start one:

  • From the Stakeholder Map or Org Chart: Click the ⋯ menu on the contact's card and select Generate Call Prep.

  • From the contact: Open the contact, scroll to Call prep in the Details tab, and click Generate call prep.

Note: If you don't see a Call Strategy for a meeting yet, it hasn't been generated — open the meeting to generate one, or use Generate call prep on the contact.

Personalize your Call Strategy template

By default, everyone on your team sees the same shared, company-wide Call Strategy format, and the shared default is designed to work well on its own. If you want to control what your briefs emphasize and how they read, you can set a personal template. If you haven't set one up yet, Centralize shows a short nudge pointing you to this setting.

  1. Click Settings at the bottom of the left sidebar.

  2. Under You, select Call prep.

  3. Under Your instructions, describe the format, emphasis, and tone your briefs should default to. To get started quickly, pick an example: Concise & punchy, Detailed & thorough, or Discovery-first.

  4. Under Sections, turn off any sections you don't want in your briefs, and drag the rest into the order you prefer. Hidden sections aren't deleted, so you can bring them back anytime; to undo your changes, click Reset to default.

  5. Click Save template.

Once you save a personal template, it becomes your default — the next time Centralize generates a Call Strategy for you, you'll see your version first. Leave the instructions empty to always use the shared version.

Tip: Be specific about format ("3 bullets," "one sentence"), emphasis ("always surface risks"), and tone ("blunt, no hype"). You can even paste an example brief for Centra to mirror. Instructions can be up to 4,000 characters.

Switch between your personal and shared Call Strategy

If you've set a personal template, you're not locked out of the shared, company-wide version.

  1. Open the Call Strategy for any meeting.

  2. Use the toggle to switch between your personal template's output and the shared, company-wide version.

If you haven't set a personal template, you'll simply see the shared version — there's nothing else to configure.

Need help?

If a Call Strategy isn't generating for a meeting or contact, you've turned on per-meeting briefs but aren't receiving them, or you can't find the personal template setting in Settings, contact support@usecentralize.com for assistance.
