Last updated: September 30, 2026

Why create an MCP API key?
An MCP API key authenticates an MCP client's connection to Centralize — it's the same kind of credential used to set up Centralize's own Claude MCP connector. When you create an MCP API key, you can:
Connect an MCP client to pull your Centralize data — accounts, contacts, opportunities, and more — into another tool.
Set the key to read-only or read & write access depending on what the client needs to do.
Revoke access immediately if a key is no longer needed or may have been exposed.
Note: This key only works with Centralize's MCP endpoint (app.usecentralize.com/api/mcp) — it isn't a general-purpose REST API key, and Centralize doesn't currently offer a standalone REST API.
Before you start
MCP API keys are available on Trial, Pro, and Enterprise plans — not on the Free plan. Free users see the MCP API Keys card locked with an upgrade prompt.
Your admin can restrict key creation to admins only. If that's turned on for your org and you're not an admin, you won't see the MCP API Keys card.
Create an MCP API key
Find the MCP section.
On the MCP API Keys card, click Manage keys.
In the MCP API keys dialog, enter a name for your key (up to 80 characters).
Choose an access level: Read or Read & write.
Click Generate key.
Tip: To see which tools work with each access level, see the Available tools chart in Connect Centralize to Claude via MCP.
Note: Your key is shown once, immediately after you generate it. Copy it somewhere safe right away — Centralize can't show it to you again.

Manage or revoke a key
Keys don't expire, and there's no way to rename or regenerate one after it's created — if you need a new name or a fresh token, revoke the old key and create a new one.
Open the MCP API keys dialog from the MCP API Keys card.
Find the key you want to revoke in the table.
Click Revoke next to that key.
Confirm by clicking Revoke key.
Note: Revoking a key takes effect immediately — any MCP client still using it loses access right away, and this can't be undone.
Tip: Non-admins can only see and revoke their own keys. Admins can see and revoke every key in the org, and can assign a key to a specific user.
