Edit Salesforce Contact Fields
Last updated: October 20, 2026
Edit Salesforce-synced contact fields right from the contacts table, on the main Contacts page or an account's Contacts tab, with no need to jump into Salesforce for quick updates. If a contact hasn't synced to Salesforce yet, saving your changes, or clicking Add to Salesforce, gives you the option to create them there too.

Before you start
Field editing happens in the contacts table only. You can't edit Salesforce fields from a contact's info sheet or the full contact page.
You can only edit fields that are shown as columns in the table, so add the fields you need first (see below).
Edits are sent to Salesforce using your own Salesforce connection. See Good to know at the bottom for details.
Show the fields you want to edit
Editing works similarly to Salesforce's inline editing, so before you start, add and arrange the columns you need.
Click Edit columns to open the column options.
Locate the fields tagged Salesforce Field — these are the fields synced from Salesforce.
Turn on the fields you want to edit, and drag them to the top of the column order.
If no Salesforce field columns are shown, the Edit Salesforce fields option is greyed out with a reminder to show a Salesforce field column first.
Tip: If you're regularly updating the same field, dragging it to the top keeps it visible without needing to scroll.
Edit Salesforce fields
Click More actions.
Click Edit Salesforce fields.
Update the field values for any contact — for example, entering a day, month, and year into a date field.
Click Save changes.
Keep in mind:
Clearing a field clears it in Salesforce too. If you delete a value and save, the field is blanked out in Salesforce.
Some fields are read-only. Fields that can't be edited in Salesforce show as read-only in Centralize.
Contacts linked to more than one account can't be edited. Their cells stay as plain text, and hovering shows "Editing isn't available for this contact."
Note: Some contacts may not have synced to Salesforce yet. You can still edit their fields — see below for what happens when you save.
Sync net-new contacts to Salesforce
If a contact hasn't synced to Salesforce yet, editing and saving a field for them gives you the option to create them there too.
When you click Save changes, a pop-up asks whether you want to sync any net-new contacts to Salesforce.
Click Create & Sync to create the contact in Salesforce and apply your field update.
Or choose to keep the contact in Centralize only, without creating it in Salesforce.
This is useful for contacts who exist in Centralize but were never created in Salesforce — for example, a rep emailed a new contact months ago, the contact never synced over, and now you want to log a field update and add them to Salesforce at the same time.
Add or sync a single contact
You can also add or sync one contact without editing any fields. Open the contact panel or the full contact page and look for the button with the Salesforce logo. A green dot on the logo means the contact is synced, and a red dot means the last sync failed.
Add to Salesforce: This appears when the contact isn't linked to Salesforce yet. Click it to add them. Centralize first checks Salesforce for a contact with the same first name, last name, account, and email. If it finds one, it links to that record instead of creating a duplicate.
Sync: This appears once the contact is linked. Click it to send the latest details from Centralize to Salesforce. It doesn't pull changes from Salesforce back into Centralize; those come in through the regular sync.
Good to know:
Editing fields and adding or syncing contacts are available on the Enterprise plan, since they need a Salesforce connection.
You need a Salesforce user with the same email as your Centralize login. Otherwise you'll see "Your Salesforce user account couldn't be found."
Centralize uses your personal Salesforce connection first. Admins and Owners who haven't connected one always fall back to your team's admin connection. Members fall back to it too, unless an admin has turned off Fall back to admin connection in Salesforce settings. In that case, you'll be asked to connect your personal Salesforce account from Integrations.
Users with read-only access can't edit Salesforce fields.
Contacts marked as Leads in Centralize are added to Salesforce as Leads.
If Salesforce has more than one possible match, Centralize may create a new contact. Your Salesforce duplicate rules can stop this.
