What is Alumni Strength?

Alumni Strength measures how strongly a contact who previously worked at one of your customer accounts is connected to their former account. A stronger signal usually means the contact is more likely to be a champion at their new company.

Where you'll see it

Alumni Strength is surfaced in two places:

  • Contacts (list + filters)

  • Accounts (inside an account)

How Alumni Strength is calculated

Alumni Strength is based on three criteria. Each criterion that applies increases the strength of the signal.

Tier 1 — Basic alumni connection: The contact previously worked at one of your customer accounts.

Tier 2 — Recent alumni from a customer: The contact left a previous customer account within the past 180 days.

Tier 3 — Opportunity alumni: The contact was previously on an opportunity at one of your customer accounts — meaning they were directly involved in a deal with your team, not just a past employee there.

Find Alumni Strength on the Contacts tab

  1. Go to Contacts in the left sidebar.

  2. Open Filters > Contacts.

  3. Turn on Has Alumni Strength.

  4. Review the filtered list of contacts who moved from a previous customer account.

  5. Use the strength bar on each contact to gauge the signal (more filled = stronger).

Find Alumni Strength on the Accounts tab

  1. Go to Accounts in the left sidebar.

  2. Open an account.

  3. Review the Contacts tab on the account and look for profiles that show prior customer experience.

  4. Open Filters > Contacts.

  5. Turn on Has Alumni Strength.

  6. Review the filtered list of contacts who moved from a previous customer account.

  7. Use the strength bar on each contact to gauge the signal (more filled = stronger).

Note: This is especially useful when prospecting into a new account, so you can quickly see who already has familiarity with your product or team.

Example use cases

  • A contact at a new company who previously worked at one of your customers → surfaced via Has Alumni Strength on Contacts.

  • A contact moves from one customer account to another customer account → appears as cross-customer alumni movement.

  • A contact who was previously on an opportunity at one of your customer accounts resurfaces at a new company → highest Alumni Strength; prioritize outreach.

Tip: Use Alumni Strength alongside your outreach sequences to prioritize contacts most likely to be receptive — they already know your world.
